VidiArts is a group of artists (performers, video editors, audio mixers, artwork designers etc.) who create commercial video productions such as DVDs. Unique to our approach is that only the people creating the products benefit from the sales - no overpaid managers, no suit-and-tie interference, no indulgent investors, just artists.
In the past members of the vidiArts group have created numerous visual products in the traditional way, for international artists like 'Pain of Salvation', 'Ayreon', 'Spock's Beard', 'Neal Morse', 'Klaus Schulze', 'Omnia' and many others. All of these were commercially successful.
But the world is changing, budgets for music and video productions are under pressure. The industry has been slow to come up with a good answer for this different environment and rather than altering the approach many, potentially great, ideas never happen. We think this is a great loss and therefore our new initiative was born.
In this approach, artists, fans and video producers work together. Fans help by investing (pre-order) and promoting the production. The artist is involved in all aspects of the production and the video crew invests their time and money in the project.
The vidiArts production, the Damian Wilson Band DVD 'Cheers Lads! 20 years of avoiding a job.' is the first production, and already it proves the concept.
